FULHAM

Slim & Subtle

BRIEF

Our client wanted a contemporary look, with pale tones to compliment the interior of the property, an outdoor dining area large enough to seat eight or ten friends, plenty of low maintenance greenery and storage space.

SOLUTION

The garden design uses raised beds around two sides of the rear of the garden, to bring a range of planting off the ground and facilitate built in seating that doubles as hidden storage for outdoor tools and candles. A bespoke table uses rustic timber, creating a dining surface with character, whilst slim metal legs add to the sense of space. A matching bespoke bench provides additional seating for when friends visit. Painted horizontal cladding creates a light yet warm finish to the space, that connects interior and exterior despite the change in levels from house to garden.

OUTCOME

The design has created new areas for planting, seating and storage in a way that has opened up a very difficult space to allow our client to get the maximum use from the previously rarely used space. The planting is subtle, using a base of shades of green to create a calming effect with a strong contrast against the boundaries.

"Whilst we had a clear vision for the inside of our new home, we were at somewhat of a loss as to what to do with our small garden space. After some research online looking for a designer specialising in making the most of small spaces we found Garden Club London. We loved the look and feel of the gardens pictured in GCL’s portfolio, with the mixture of contemporary structural elements combined with the softer planting. We are so happy with the end result, we keep finding ourselves wanting to sit outside whatever the weather! Tony was able to transform our uninspiring rectangular ‘box’ into a wonderful calming place to sit and enjoy. We had very clear requirements for the garden – we wanted a contemporary look with pale tones, an outside dining area for hosting friends, plenty of low maintenance greenery to add some character as well as some practical storage. Tony incorporated all these elements in to the design, mixing formal elements with some more relaxed planting and shapes whilst working to within our budget. The end result is a relaxing, private space to sit outside and feel as though you can escape from it all! I would definitely recommend Garden Club London to friends looking for a high quality garden design service."
